We offer great grammar tips, including tips on regional English differences (American, British, etc.) and ways to improve your pronunciation. The Philippines as an Affordable and Excellent Destination for English Learning

English is one of the official languages of the Philippines. The Philippines is one of the largest English-speaking countries in the world where tens of millions speak it as a second or foreign language with hundreds of thousands using it as their primary language, particularly those belonging to the younger middle to upper-class Filipinos. The language was first introduced to the islands through the British trading houses that came when the country first opened its door to global commerce. In fact, Andres Bonifacio, one of our national heroes, learned to speak English while working in one of these.

However, it only flourished under US colonial rule. With the widespread use of English, the Philippines became the perfect place to learn English. In fact, I encountered people abroad who could speak English well because they learned from Filipino teachers.

AHEAD’s Neutral English

AHEAD promotes Neutral English, which is universalized English. Due to American colonization, and contact with British trading houses, including trade partnerships with  Australia, New Zealand and places in Asia that use British-influenced English, Philippine English is considered by many to be neutral. Philippine English uses both American and British words (ex. railway instead of railroad), but generally, the spelling and pronunciation is based on American English. By teaching our students Neutral English, we help them be understood globally.

Our Teachers

AHEAD’s teachers have studied (and excelled) in the best universities in the world! Some of them have taught English abroad. Others have had experiences teaching English to foreign students here. Some lecturers have studied linguistics and phonology and they can help you with your pronunciation. Many are professionals in various fields as well. Many of them  are near-native speakers and some speak it as a first language. Our experienced and qualified teachers will help you well with your learning.

Here at AHEAD Online, we aim to give learners of English excellent experiences and skills. We believe that they can aim for the future and do well in their endeavors. You will be taught and trained by the best teachers the Philippines has to offer. With that, we encourage you to study among the best and to strive for your goals. Always stay AHEAD.
